The Legacy Scholars Foundation advances access to quality K–12 independent education by awarding scholarships to eligible students, prioritizing equity, transparency, and educational opportunity.

Formed as a nonprofit corporation in Texas and among the first organizations to obtain SGO certification in the state, LSF is built on a foundation of legal, tax, and education expertise.

Eligibility Requirements

Per statute, eligible students must meet all of the following:

  • Household income ≤ 300% of area median gross income (varies by household size and local median income)
  • Eligible to enroll in a public elementary or secondary school
  • Preference given to prior scholarship recipients and their siblings
  • Accepted by a Legacy Scholars Foundation member school

Application Process

Legacy Scholars Foundation is accepting applications for the 2026–2027 school year.

  • Apply for admission & financial aid directly with a member school
  • Submit your scholarship application through LSF's portal
  • Scholarships awarded on a rolling basis starting Spring 2027
  • Funds may cover tuition, fees, textbooks, technology, transportation, uniforms & more

Scholarship FAQs

No. Scholarships received by students are excluded from taxable income.

Preference is given to students who received a scholarship the prior year, making renewal straightforward for qualified students who remain enrolled at a member school.

School FAQs

Scholarship awards are issued on a rolling basis beginning Spring 2027. LSF will issue quarterly reports to each Member School identifying all connected donations.

Funds are restricted only to the extent required by statute — they must be used for eligible student scholarship purposes, not general operating expenses.
